HARTING has introduced three MICA starter kits, which are meant to help with implementation of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Each kit contains the necessary hardware and software for basic application, removing risk and guesswork for companies looking to use IIoT.

“Many people want to integrate IIoT, but they don’t know where to start or which applications would benefit their operations the most,” said Pat Hogan, Senior Product Manager for MICA. “That’s why we created these kits. Everything you need to prototype a solution is in these kits, and the best part is that it takes less than 10 minutes to get a solution up and running.”

The first starter kit is the HARTING MICA CISS Complete IIoT creates a basic condition-monitoring application. It comes with sensor that can measure seven different parameters (vibrations, acoustics, temperature, humidity). It is connected to the HARTING MICA, which comes with pre-installed software that includes a dashboard that shows all of the sensor readouts.

The second starter kit is the HARTING MICA RF-R300 Complete RFID, which contains what is needed for a basic RFID asset tracking application (industrial RFID tags, HARTING MICA RF-R300 reader, two antennas and all cabling). MICA has a pre-installed demo version of HARTING certified Ha-VIS Middleware that translates the raw RFID signals formats into modern software protocols.

The third start kit is the HARTING MICA Basic Ethernet, which is used to connect peripheral devices through Ethernet using communications protocols such as Modbus-TCP or OPC UA. It contains all cabling required to get started and a basic version of MICA and software.

All start kits come with Fast-Ethernet capabilities, eight digital GPIO ports, and the ability to be powered over PoE or 12V/24V.
