Commencement of Entries for Hong Kong Mould & Die Council Awards 2006

The Hong Kong Mould and Die Council (HKMDC), established under the auspices of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, announced last Wednesday that the Hong Kong Mould & Die Award Council Awards 2006 are now calling for entries. The annual HKMDC Awards aim to encourage and give recognition to companies and organisations that have attained excellent performance in mould and die manufacturing. They also aim to promote successful practices and strategies in various aspects of mould and die manufacturing. There are two categories of awards: Operation Excellence and Distinguished Achievement. The most outstanding entrant in overall performance will be considered for the Operational Excellence Grand Award. Other entrants with excellent performance in one of three aspects: Design and Manufacturing Technology, Management and System, Marketing and Customer Services, will be considered for the Operation Excellence Award in the respective sub-category. There is only one award for each of the above three sub-categories. As a continuation of the council's "New Blood" programme, the council launched in 1998 a student group competition for the HKMDC Awards. Students are encouraged to submit their mould drawings and designs or research projects on themes related to the mould and die industry for the competition. Applications for the Operation Excellence and Distinguished Achievement Awards and the Student Group Awards will close on August 18 and September 8 respectively.
