Certificate Challenges Seal Ring Producers
Not long before, several O-ring producers in Wenzhou were fined for lacking production certificate. The fine over tens of thousands yuan was affordable, but it shocked the O-ring industry. According to Chamber of Commerce in Wenzhou, there are more than 100 O-ring producers there, only two of them have gotten the certificate. Hundreds of enterprises are facing with challenges of certificate.
"In fact, certificate reflect the requirement for standardization." said Hu zhigen, chairman of Zhejiang Oufu Seal Ring Co.,Ltd. "It is not hard to acquire such certificate for my enterprise and all companies with relatively big scale and a little more brand consciousness."
However, besides Oufu, only Wenzhou Sanhuan Ruber Product Co.,Ltd got the certificate so far. Mr. Zhao jingwen, chairman of the company and Chamber of Commerce for Ruber Products in Wenzhou, believed that all related producers are obliged to pass the certificate, but this industry and the market have yet to be standardized at present.
Obviously, most enterprises do not attach enough importance to the certificate, some of them even pay no attention at all. Mr. Huang anlu, secretary general of the Chamber for Ruber, said:"Besides the two certificated enterprises, only 9 ones are preparing for a certificate. The majority others have no signs to take any action."
Huang worried that many enterprises might have no intention to standardize themselves. After all, to acquire the certificate is a systematic work, applicants must have corresponding data bases for equipments, personnel, craft process, directions to produce, testing data etc.
Some enterprise owners with the view of industrial promotion as a whole expressed the same concern. Hu indicated to make the certificate universal is a matter of standardizing the whole industry by enhancing enterprises' initiative rather than heavy fine or inspections by goernment. If majority of enterprises refused to be on the road to standardization, the market would become out of order.
While, Huang is relatively optimistic. He said:" as a part product, quality of seal rings directly affect the finished products; when all buyers required supplier's certificate, the ruber industry in Wenzhou would enter a new stage. Enterprises have the alternatives of being collapsed without certificate or applying for it. Such result meet the developing law for industries."
