China's Bearing Output to Reach 8 Billion Units by 2010

The Eleventh Five-year Plan for the bearing industry in China during the period from 2006 to 2010 has recently been released at an industrial seminar. The plan reveals that China's bearing output will reach 8 billion units by the end of 2010, generating RMB84 billion of revenues from sales then. Industrial added value will amount to RMB25.2 billion. The overall labor productivity will be RMB55,000 per capita. The energy consumption per unit industrial value added will fall by 20%, and the utilization rate of raw materials by 5 percentage points, compared to the figures in 2005. Regarding the structure of the industry, two to three conglomerates of annual sales over RMB1 billion will be fostered, in addition to 20 "little giant" enterprises which produce unique products and generate sales of RMB300 million yearly, and six to eight sizable production bases of bearing parts. The production concentration of the Chinese bearing industry is expected to rise to above 60%. Coming to products, the Chinese bearing industry targets to produce all high-end, middle-end and ordinary products in the ratio of 2:5:3. The development foci will be put on bearings for medium to high end sedans, and low-noise motor bearings, for instance. In addition, the Chinese bearing industry aims to raise its product precision, performance, lifetime and reliability to a new stage through R&D and innovation.
