Auto Parts Manufacturer PMG To Consolidate Midwest Operations to Columbus, Indiana Automotive parts manufacturer PMG Indiana Corp. recently announced that it is consolidating its Midwest operations to Columbus, Ind., creating 73 new jobs. The company, a powder metal supplier, will invest more than $11 million to relocate their Dayton, Ohio,-based production and research and development operations to a new facility adjacent to their 140,000 square foot production facility in Columbus. The consolidation is aimed at streamlining the company’s manufacturing process for its myriad of powder metal offerings that include parts for engines, transmissions, oil pumps, shock absorbers and bearings. “After considerable review and analysis, we have opted to expand our Indiana operations as we close our Dayton, Ohio plant and move selected business from Ohio here,” said Larry Van Epps, executive vice president of PMG Indiana. “This expansion provides a real opportunity for PMG Indiana to be a major force in the future of the powdered metal parts business.” PMG currently employs 250 employees at its Columbus production facility where it manufactures parts for GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda and Aisin. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $1.2 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $50,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The City of Columbus offered the company property tax abatement. PMG, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-based Plansee Mitsubishi Materials, produces powder metal parts and sub-assemblies for Engines, manual transmissions, automatic transmissions, oil pumps, shock absorbers, oil impregnated bearings, industrial applications.
