NTN Offers 3D Electronic Catalog for Machine Tool Bearings

As an engineering service, NTN Corporation (NTN) will begin to supply a three-dimensional electronic catalog (3D-CAD Data) for machine tool bearings free to machine tool manufacturers in June.
Machine tool manufacturers have recently begun conducting preliminary design studies using three-dimensional CAD systems to develop new products in a short period of time in order to respond to changing market needs. It is necessary for machine tool manufacturers to make thermal, stress and structure analyses in the design stage involving the main spindle and other structural parts. Customers requested an electronic catalog of 3D-CAD data for NTN's high-precision machine tool bearings.
Until now, NTN has supplied 3D-CAD data only for standard bearings (as key components) and individually requested items, but not for the entire machine tool bearing series.
If the electronic 3D-CAD data catalog is used, a preliminary study at the machine tool's structure design stage can be done (for example,1) shoulder height of the bearing and spacer, 2) the nozzle plumbing position, 3) lubrication and exhaust pipe checks). If analysis software* is also used, thermal analysis and structure analysis can be done speedily on a computer (including thermal distribution and displacement at every position of the main spindle). The electronic catalog thus improves design efficiency.(*Not included in the electronic catalog.)
