MBS 100 – The New-eneration Metal Bellows Mechanical Seal
Within the framework of the successful EagleBurgmann Alliance between Wolfratshausen-based Burgmann Industries GmbH & Co. KG and Tokyo-based Eagle Industry, the alliance partners have launched a new laminated bellows mechanical seal. The MBS100 is a component seal for installation spaces in accordance with EN 12756 (DIN 24960); it combines the advantages of the service-proven MFL85N and an equivalent seal made by the Japanese partner. The mechanical seal is suitable for use as a basic seal for pumps run in medium pressure and temperature ranges in refineries, in the chemicals, paper and cellulose industries and for temperature control systems.
The core area of use for this universal seal is in the chemicals industry, particularly for media containing solids and highly viscous and aggressive media. The Inconel 625 material used for the bellows is highly resistant to chemicals, especially in acid environments. In terms of structural design the MBS100 is similar to the MFL85N bellows seal which has been successfully marketed by Burgmann for a number of years now. The seal is independent of the direction of rotation and designed principally for external pressurization. The rotating bellows unit is comprised of a bellows carrier, the metal bellows, a seal face carrier with shrink-fitted seal face, and is fastened to the shaft by three grub screws
