Japan May Launch More High-end Machine Tool Products in Chinese Market

Japanese toolmakers will introduce more high-end products to the Chinese machine tool market in the near future, Toshiomi Shono, President of Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association (JMTBA), told reporter of Chinamac, a bi-monthly journal published by Adsale Publishing Limited. "Japan has supported the growth of Chinese machine tool industry since the 1970s, when the industry began modernizing. However, in the past few years, the evolution of technology used in Chinese machine tools has been a sight to behold. The effort of the Chinese government and of other people concerned, who had made great effort to improve machine tool technology, can be considered to have finally started to pay off in the past few years," Shono said. Shono thinks that although the characteristics and attributes of machine tools are important to the growth, the economic development of the region is also considered as an important factor. "And we are proud that Japanese machine tools are able to contribute largely to further boost the manufacturing industry," he said. "We expect that, by making effort to improve technical strength for further market development, Chinese manufacturers will emerge as rivals to Japanese manufacturers, and that Japanese manufacturers will have a mutually beneficial relationship with Chinese manufacturers," he added.
