Brammer and Partners Head North to Boost Charity Coffers

The charity fundraising efforts of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) distributor Brammer have been boosted to the tune of more than pound;2,000 thanks to one of the company’s Cardiff employees and two representatives from one of Brammer’s supply partners. Brammer’s target is to raise pound;100,000 by April 2009 for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, the charity which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. The company is well over three-quarters of the way there, having already presented the charity with cheques totalling pound;75,000. Anthony McGivern of Brammer’s Cardiff Sales Service Centre completed the recent Great North Run, held in Gateshead, from where he originally hails, in two hours and 40 minutes – highly creditable given that it was his first attempt at the half-marathon distance and that he was wearing a pink dress! Meanwhile, Dean Askew and Mat Sawyer of Timken, for which Brammer is a major distributor, raised some pound;1,800 for Make-AWish Foundation UK, both crossing the line in one hour 47 minutes. Anthony McGivern commented: “I’d watched the Great North Run when I lived in the area and always said I would give it a go one day. I got a few wolf whistles but it was worth it!”
