Recently, Shijiazhuang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (Shi Steel for short) will hopefully provide bearing steel to Sweden SKF---the largest bearing manufacturing enterprise worldwide, and become its provider. “At present, the steel sample has been sent off and is being tested”, the staff from developing department of Shi Steel said.
It is understood that in the first half of this year, the production of special steel of Shi Steel has tended towards stability after the fluctuation of steel market last year, and the output maintains the same in the passed June in the same period last year.
“The Only Predominant Manufacturer” of special steel
One of the top leaders from Shi Steel said, Shi Steel is “The Only Predominant Manufacturer” of special steel in the steel industry in Hebei Province.
Shi Steel has started to transform since 1995 and it was purchased by the Hong Kong invested Citic Pacific in June, 2006. It is said that the competition of domestic market has changed from the former “Eight Special Steels” into the competition among the three companies invested by Citic Pacific Special Steel Group (Shi Steel, Hubei Xinye Steel, Xingcheng Steel), Dongbei Special Steel Group and Bao Steel. Shi Steel ranks the second among the five companies in production capacity.
Bearing Steel Going to Enter Large Market
At present, the special steel like bearing steel and spring steel takes up over 70% of the total output of Shi Steel, while bearing steel becomes the flagship product of the special steel enterprises because it has more detection indexes and its production is difficult. The monthly output of bearing steel of Shi Steel has reached 39,000 tons so far. Almost all the famous bearing plants in China has used the bearing steel from Shi Steel, meanwhile, Sweden SKF has started to try on the sample steel from Shi Steel.
In addition, the special steel of Shi steel will march into international market. It is said that Shi Steel has provided steel in batch orders to the famous international enterprise such as Japan Toyota, U.S. Caterpillar, Dana, ArvinMeritor and Germany ZF, etc.
