The modern development of bearing industry in China mainly happened after the New China was founded. After almost 60 years’ construction and development, especially, since the 30 years’ continuously prompt and steady development after the Reform and Opening Up, the bearing industry in China has already formed an independent industry system with a complete range of production, fairly large scope and level. Compared to 2007, in 2008, more than 1440 manufacturing enterprises of bearing and parts has achieved the total main business income of 88 billion RMB, which increases 15.59%; the output of 10 billion bearings increases 11.11%; the total profit is 4.5 billion RMB with an increase of 7.14%; the export of bearing products brings $ 2.97 billion foreign exchange, increasing 38.07%; 3.39 billion sets of bearings have been exported with an increase of 2.75%; the foreign exchange used in import of bearings is up to $ 2.693 billion, increasing 24.99%; 1.579 billion sets of bearings have been imported with an increase of 0.73%; The task of the countrywide bearing industry decided by the 11th Five-year Plan has been over fulfilled two years ahead with a favorable balance of import and export trade of $ 0.276 billion
At present, the bearing industry in China has ranked the 3rd place in the world gross bearing production on the aspect of industrial economy, while on the aspects of production precision and technology, etc., there is still a fairly large gap with the world top level, which is mainly represented on the following aspects:
1.The concentration degree of bearing manufacturing industry in China is low.
The 8 multinational companies take up a proportion ranging from 75% to 80% of the $40 billion sales of the worldwide bearings. The two large companies in Germany take up 90% of the countrywide sales; the five Japanese companies take up 90%; one company in US takes up 56%, while in China, seven companies including Wafangdian Bearing Group of which the sales are more than 1 billion RMB, only take up 28.3% of the total industry.
2.The development and innovative capability of bearing industry in China is limited.
Because the construction and operation of innovation system, the investment in development and research, and the personnel development of most of enterprises are still at low level, and the scientific research institutes that provide service to the bearing industry are gradually transformed into enterprise, China has no further investment in the industrial generic technology research, which weaken the function of the research on the industry. Therefore, the basic theory research of the bearing industry is weak; the constitution of international standard is not enough; the original technology and patent product is lacked. The low capability in product development is embodied in the following aspects: though the domestic mainframe integration rate is up to 80%, the bearings used for the integration and maintenance of some important mainframe fairly depend on import.
Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the periodical operation of global bearing industry, we review the aftereffect of Asian Finance Crisis; evaluate the influence of the global economic recession, and forecast the speedup of bearing industry in China in 2009 according to the change of domestic fixed assets investment, export and downstream mainframe industry.
In 2009, we think that the sub-industry of bearing industry in China, the windpower bearing and railway bearing will have good prospects. The investment plan of 4000 billion RMB will boost the engineering machinery bearing. In the view of long-term development, we also favor the aerospace bearing, high-precision CNC machine tool bearing and mid and top grade car bearing.
