CBIA Visited Japanese and Korean Bearing Industry

Liu Enshi, president of CBIA and Wang Quanqing, secretary-general of CBIA visited Japan and South Korea from August 18-24. The destinations include NTN, NSK, Sakamura Machine, KYC, Toyo Advanced Technologies and Japan Bearing Industry Association in Japan as well as South Korea Bearing Industry Association in South Korea. The visits were warmly welcomed and the objective of understanding the bearing industry in Japan and South Korea, especially after the financial crisis, is fully achieved.
Ⅰ. The visits facilitate the communications and strengthen the relationship between Sino-Japan and Sino-South Korea bearing industries. The hosts expressed warm welcome and attached great importance to the first visit of CBIA after its election at expiration of office terms. The hosts made full preparations by displaying “Welcome China Bearing Industry Association” in the hall of their headquarters on electronic screens and arranged Chinese and Japanese National Flags in their reception room. The presidents, directors, managers and executive directors of NSK and NTN participated into the meeting. To show the respects, the senior officials of South Korea Bearing Industry Association personally came out of their headquarters building to welcome their Chinese guests. With sincerity and enthusiasm, Mr. Kim Gae Ho, the standing director of South Korea Bearing Industry Association, said: “Welcome your visit. Since our relationship was established in 2004, the two associations have conducted many exchanges which are beneficial to the bearing industries in the two countries. South Korea has learned a lot from these exchanges. Hopefully, we would further such connections.”
Ⅱ. Japanese and South Korean enterprises believe that the quick economic recovery in China has facilitated the resurgence around the globe.
Japanese and South Korean bearing experts expressed their envy towards the rapid economic recovery and high growth in China. Both S. Asaka, President of NSK and Suzuki, chairman of NTN admitted that China had become the engine to drag the world economy out of recession. Mr. Miyasita, standing director of Japan Bearing Industry Association said, amid the economic crisis, Chinese economy would lead the world economy. Therefore, there is a more urgent need for the cooperation and exchanges between the bearing industries in our countries. The Sakamura Machine, KYC and Toyo Advanced Technologies had all expressed their concerns over the Chinese market: Sakimura Machine has strengthened their efforts of R&D and after-service in Chinese market with considerable achievements. Yoshikazu Sakamura showed inclination of paying more attention to Chinese market by introducing to China a new type of heading machine with 100% utilization ratio.
Ⅲ. Japanese enterprises believe that Japanese economy has touched the bottom and now is in recovery. The home appliance and auto sectors are turning better. The bearing industry in Japan has recovered 50%-70%. The financial crisis has inflicted severe impacts on Japanese bearing industry: 47% negative growth in the first quarter of 2009; 41% negative growth in the second. Although the situation in general is depressing, there is a gradual improvement every month. At present, its export has recovered to around 70%.As the Japanese domestic market and Western markets are in recession, NSK and NTN showed their wishes to enter Chinese market. Therefore, they are strongly in need of Chinese partners to help them invest in wind power bearing, high-speed railway bearing and mega-size bearing. Their Chinese counterparts have paid great attention to their inclination to further develop in China.
Ⅳ. Sakamura Machine in Japan and bearing enterprises in South Korea have expressed their wishes to participate into 2010 China International Bearing Exhibition. During this visit, the delegates introduced the preparation of 2010 China International Bearing Exhibition to Japanese and South Korean bearing enterprises. NTN, NSK and other enterprises expressed their inclinations to take part into the exhibition. Sakamura Machine said it learned a lot from the 2008 exhibition in Shanghai and would make a full preparation for the 2010 exhibition in China by bringing along the new model that has achieved 100% material utilization ratio and their cold header to make contributions to the “energy efficiency campaign” initiated by the Chinese bearing industry; Japan Bearing Industry Association promised to introduce the 2010 Shanghai Exhibition to their member enterprises and support their participations. The South Korea Association would organize more than 20 enterprises to participate the exhibition to facilitate the exchanges and cooperation between the bearing industries in the two countries.
