In July 2010, SKF South Africa signed an agreement with Citi Bearings and Seals (Citi), currently one of SKF's largest Authorised Distributors, for the SKF Rustenburg Branch and the Citi Bearings and Seals Rustenburg Branch has been operating at full steam since then.
Independent authorised distribution is nothing new for SKF in South Africa with current distributors being responsible for approximately 80% of the industrial aftermarket representation. There is no real change to the way SKF operates as a company as their authorised distributors are very well integrated into the global SKF supply chain, SKF systems and business processes, and have the full support of the extensive SKF technical resources.
"SKF's authorised distributors are an extension of SKF; they are situated closer to the customer base, plan and manage stock more effectively and have the ability to service end users, meeting their demands for high quality, reliable products and services that add value and reduce total cost of ownership," Fourie states.
Since 1991 Citi Bearings and Seals has had a very good track record as an authorised SKF Distributor, and actively sell all six SKF core technologies - bearings and units; seals; lubrication systems; power transmission; mechatronics; and services - and indeed the full SKF value proposition. The Citi Bearings and Seals organisation is also certified to BBBEE level 4.
Citi Bearings and Seals Rustenburg believes that service excellence begins with competent and highly trained staff who are committed to meet customer requirements. They have highly skilled technicians who look after customer requirements in the Rustenburg area and are responsible for all service and maintenance issues that cover laser alignment, balancing, vibration & oil analysis, mechanical fitting services, bearing inspections, etc.
The local market can count not only on local knowledge, product and service excellence from Citi Bearings and Seals Rustenburg, but also on the added support of SKF's Application Engineering Department and Reliability Service Division.
