Bearing Steel Market in China will still Operate in Weakness in August 2011

Summary: Look back to the bearing steel market in July, the price for GCr15 kept stable in the northern regions, while the price was slightly dropped in some southern regions in the end of this month.
Up to the end of July, the national average price of GCr15 continuous casting non-annealed steel of 50mm was 6,364 yuan/ton, dropped about 40 yuan/ton compared with the price in last month; the national average price of GCr15 die-casting annealed steel of 100mm was 7,954 yuan/ton, dropped 10 yuan/ton. The overall steel market was under the condition of weakness in July, meanwhile the market deal was light, the capital was still nervous, the market could not warm up in short period due to the influence of rain, high temperature, power limitation and other factors. It is estimated that bearing steel market in August will relatively stable with the concussion operation of a narrow strips.
一、The domestic production situation of bearing steel
The domestic production capability of bearing steel crude steel was about 1.816 million tons from January to June in 2011, increased by 12.5% compared with the same period of last year; the output of bearing steel was 1.675 million tons, rose by 13.5% compared with the same period of last year. In June, the output of bearing steel crude steel was 369,000 tons, meanwhile the output of bearing steel was 341,000 tons. (refer to: picture 1)

From Table 1 & Table 2, we can saw that the first three for bearing steel output from January to June in 2011 were still Zhongxin Special Steel (Xinye Steel and Xingcheng Speical Steel ), Dongbei Speical Steel and Nanjing Steel, with the same rank compared with the last period.
二、Bearing Steel Market Performance in July
The price of bearing steel was weak in July, the price in northern regions was basically stable while market price for east regions dropped to some extent. Bearing steel market deal was not positive due to the weakness of steel material market and special steel market. The specific condition of bearing steel in the domestic various regions in this month were as follows:
Hangzhou Market: the price in this region slightly dropped in July with the common market deal. Up to the end of July, the average transaction price of small size GCr 15 (continuous casting non-annealed steel) was between 6,100 yuan/ton and 6,150 yuan/ton, and the GCr15 die-casting annealed steel was between 7,700 yuan/ton and 7,800 yuan/ton.
Luoyang Market: the price in this region was basically stable with the common market deal. Up to the end of July, the average transaction price of small size GCr 15 (continuous casting non-annealed steel) was between 6,250 yuan/ton and 6,350 yuan/ton, and the GCr15 die-casting annealed steel was about 7,800 yuan/ton.
Xi'an Market: the price in this region was weak with the common market deal. Up to the end of July, the average transaction price of small size GCr 15 (continuous casting non-annealed steel) was about 6,600 yuan/ton, and the GCr15 die-casting annealed steel was about 7,900 yuan/ton.

According to the statistics from Mysteeel.com: up to the end of July, the national average price of GCr15 continuous casting non-annealed steel of 50mm was 6,364 yuan/ton; the national average price of GCr15 die-casting annealed steel of 100mm was 7,954 yuan/ton.

三、The price of bearing steel will keep stable with slight weakenss in August
1.In the aspect of raw material, the trend for iron ore, pig iron, scrap steel and other raw material will operate in weakness, meawhile the price will slightly adjust with the steel market, while the price of chromium will reach 8,500 yuan/ton.

2. As for steel plant and market, the price of bearing steel in most of steel plants kept stable in July, whereas the price in some steel plants decreased, such as, Xingtai Steel production line respectively dropped 200 yuan/ton and 100 yuan/ton for northern and southern regions. With the coming of the off-season for bearing steel demand in August, and also the the rainy season and restriction of electricity in high temperature, some steel plants will have maintenance plan. At the same time, the market deal was common, merchants stated that the delivery was not idea, while the overall market level basically kept balance with last month. In the meanwhile, merchants and downstream users were not optimistic, changes for the market inventory was not obvious.
3. For downstream users, the sales situation for end-users was quite common, therefore, the purchasing for bearing steel was not positive.
In summary, bearing steel market in August is still in the selling off-season. And the bearing steel market will improve with the warming up of the steel market, it is estimated that the price in this month will still operate in weakness, meanwhile the price may slightly adjusted.
