Follow these 3 easy steps to calculate the potential performance of a plain bearing. 3 Steps to Calculate “PV” for a Plain Bearing In order for a plain bearing (sliding bearing) to be suitable for use without lubrication in an application, the following 3 criteria must be met. Follow these steps to calculate each of these parameters: Step #1 - Calculate “P” P = Maximum pressure or load in psi (kgf/cm2) Pressure is over the projected area of load:
