(October 27, 2011) Seven high-performance devices with unique functions For the reliable heating and safe mounting of all rotationally symmetrical workpieces Developed for volume production assembly FAG’s new generation of HEATER inductive heating devices allows rolling bearings and rotationally symmetrical parts made from steel to be heated significantly more safely and gently than was possible before. The seven devices are a significant improvement on the previous design and feature several unique technical innovations. For example, the position of the induction coil in the heating devices’ housing has been optimized to prevent the device and the workpiece from overheating. This function, together with the newly-developed combined temperature and time control, also allows controlled heating, which reduces the risk of damage to the workpiece. Improvements have been made that benefit the workpiece, the customer’s machine, the device itself, and the user. Safety and reliability of FAG’s HEATER series has been tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland. A broad scope of delivery and a warranty extension to five years further emphasize the high level of quality. FAG HEATER40 – one of seven inductive heating devices, suitable for workpieces of up to 40 kg. Maximum safety for workpiece and machine High machine availability depends on the quality of the individual machine components. This means that workpieces must be heated as homogeneously as possible prior to mounting. When the heat output is too high, this causes a temperature difference between the inside and outside of the workpiece, and this in turn can lead to cracks and distortions in the material. To prevent this, the new FAG heating devices are equipped with a combined temperature and time control – no other product on the market has this feature. This unique feature and the horizontal positioning of the coil in the device housing ensure that the workpieces are heated uniformly. Because workpieces become magnetized during the inductive heating process, all heating devices feature a demagnetization function. This prevents the attraction of metallic contaminants that could damage the workpiece. FAG HEATER1200 – the largest device in the series, equipped with a practical translation stage to allow easy positioning of the bearing on the device. Maximum safety for the device FAG’s new heating devices are equipped with various functions to protect them against overheating. Firstly, the induction coil is located in the device housing and not in the rolling bearing bore, as is the case with similar products. Secondly, all devices are equipped with a thermal protection system which immediately switches off the device if overheating occurs. Further protection is provided by a heat sink, which is a standard feature of all devices. These FAG heating devices are ideal for use in volume production assembly thanks to their numerous safety functions. Maximum safety for the user All inductive heating devices produce a magnetic field during the heating process, and this magnetic field can affect the health of the user. This means that a sufficient safety distance from the device must be observed. With HEATER10 and HEATER20, a five-second countdown begins once the start button has been pressed, thus giving the user enough time to move away from the device. The larger heating devices in the series feature an even more convenient and flexible solution: The process is controlled using an infrared remote control. FAG HEATER300 with trolley for ease of transportation Broad scope of delivery FAG's new generation of heating devices comes complete with a broad scope of delivery. Schaeffler delivers various ledges, the corresponding special grease, heatresistant gloves, and a cover as standard with all devices. The HEATER600 and HEATER1200 devices are also supplied with a translation stage that allows the workpieces to be easily and safely positioned on the heating device. A carry case for the smaller heating devices HEATER10 and HEATER 20, and a trolley for the HEATER300 device are available as optional accessories. Another first is the free device selection software FAG Heating Manager, which assists the user in selecting the optimum heating device for heating rolling bearings. The software is available to download from Schaeffler’s media library at www.schaeffler.com.
