Weekly Review of Bearing Steel Market in China (January 1st to January 6th, 2012)

The bearing steel price in this week was stable. Up to Friday, the national average price of continuous casting non-annealed steel was 5,746 yuan/ton, declined 8 yuan/ton compared with the price in last week, the mainstream quotation for the second tier steel plant in South China was between 5,200 yuan/ton and 5,300 yuan/ton. This week the trading day was short, performance for the whole deal situation was bad, and the price for some individual material slightly dropped 25-50 yuan/ton. At present, the market will keep stable until the spring festival, the price for bearing steel market in next week is estimated to keep stable with light market deal.
The domestic iron essence pink market in this week still operated under weakness as last week, steel plant inventory was common with less purchasing pressure before the holidays. The imported ore market was stable, and the price slightly increased. The freight market significantly dropped as expected. The domestic pig iron market in this week kept stable with light market deal, inventory for most of regions was normal while inventory in some individual regions increased to some extent. The whole DRI market stably operated, stock price increased in Shandong province, however, the overall demand for downstream market was bad. The domestic square billet market operated with weakness, there were distinct differences between southern & northern regions, price in northern regions slightly increased due to the rising price of blank in Tangshan, at the same time, downstream manufacturers began to supply goods, and the market deal also improved. On the other hand, price for downstream manufacturers slightly dropped as for the weakness of end-demand in southern regions and also the insufficient operating rate, thus the deal was bad. The domestic scrap market in this week still declined. The coking coal market in this week continued to operate under weakness with common deal. The imported coking coal market adjusted with weakness, price slightly decreased for some individual species while other species mainly kept stable. The mainstream price for the coke market kept stable with common deal. Silicon, manganese products in common alloy market mainly maintained stable, while chrome products slightly rose, the special alloy market was steady. Price for the chrome alloy market slightly increased, stock resources in some regions also increased, the quotation for chrome ore market was firm, mainly in powder ore transaction.
[East China Region] This week the bearing steel price in East China market adjusted and the market deal was light. Up to this weekend, the quotation in Hangzhou market was as follows: Daye Nonferrous GCr15Φ50-70 non-annealed steel was between 5,200 yuan/ton and 5,250 yuan/ton; Echeng Steel GCr15Φ30-75 non-annealed steel was between 5,200 yuan/ton and 5,250 yuan/ton; Shanghai No. 5 Steel Plant GCr15Φ26-70 heat treatment spheroidizing annealed steel was 7,300yuan/ton; Xingcheng Steel GCr15Φ50 non-annealed steel was 5,800 yuan/ton with a few of stock; Nanjing Steel Group GCr15Φ16-40 heat treatment non-annealed steel was 5,250 yuan/ton; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ30-95 heat treatment annealed steel was 5,300 yuan/ton; Shougang Group GCr15Φ50 hot rolled non annealed steel was out of stock. This week the bearing steel price in Wuxi market was stable, meanwhile the deal was weak; Up to this weekend, the quotation in Wuxi market was as follows: Xingcheng Steel GCr15Φ30-75 hot rolled non annealed steel was 6,100 yuan/ton, out of stock; Xingyegang Steel GCr15Φ30-50 continuous annealed steel was 6,500yuan/ton; Beiman Steel GCr15Φ40-75 heat treatment annealed steel was 6,550yuan/ton; Wuxi Huarun Steel GCr15Φ50-80 hot rolled non-annealed steel was 5,500 yuan/ton with a few of stock; Nanjing Steel GCr15Φ50 hot rolled non-annealed steel was 5,500 yuan/ton; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ40-75 hot rolled non-annealed steel was 5,550 yuan/ton.
[Central South China Region] This week the bearing steel price in Luoyang market was stable; the deal was common. Up to this weekend, the quotation in Luoyang market was as follows: Shijiazhuang Steel GCr15Φ16-50 annealed steel was 6,600 yuan/ton and GCr15Φ24-50 non-annealed steel was 5,700yuan/ton; Xingyegang Steel GCr15Φ50-130 die-casting non-annealed steel was 7,700yuan/ton, out of stock; Changcheng Special Steel GCr15Φ45 continuous casting annealed steel was 6,600yuan/ton, out of stock, die-casting non-annealed steel was 5,750 yuan/ton; Xining Steel GCr15Φ25-70 continuous casting non-annealed steal was 5,700yuan/ton. This week the bearing steel price in Wuhan market slightly dropped and the deal was common. Echeng Steel GCr15Φ14-30 non-annealed steel was 5,600yuan/ton; Xinyegang Steel GCr15Φ80-110 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 5,850yuan/ton and die casting annealed steel was 7,800yuan/ton; GCr15Φ42-75 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 5,800yuan/ton.
[North China Region] This week the bearing steel price in Shenyang market kept stable and the deal was common. Up to this weekend, Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ25-60 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 5,950yuan/ton, out of stock; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ25-40 continuous casting annealed steel was 6,800yuan/ton; Benxi Steel Φ70-130 continuous casting steel was 5,650 yuan/ton, Benxi Steel GCr15Φ150-180 die-casting annealed steel was 7,400 yuan/ton. This week the bearing steel price in Harbin market maintained stable and the deal was common. Benxi Steel GCr15Φ50-75 heat treatment annealed steel was 6,900yuan/ton, out of stock; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ50 annealed steel was out of stock; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ40-75 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 5,750yuan/ton.
[Southwest China Region] This week the price of bearing steel in Chengdu market was stable and the market resource was not sufficient. Up to this weekend, Changcheng Steel GCr15Φ80-130 continuous casting annealed steel was 6,450 yuan/ton; Xining SteelΦ150-200 die casting annealed steel was 7,800 yuan/ton, out of stock; Xining Steel GCr15Φ30-75 continuous casting annealed steel was 6,500 yuan/ton with a few of stock. This week the bearing steel resource in Chongqing market was stable, Donghua Special Steel GCr15Φ20-30 heat treatment annealed steel was out of stock; Xining SteelΦ80-120 rolled annealing steel was 6,600yuan/ton, out of stock; part of Changcheng Steel GCr15Φ30-65 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 5,800 yuan/ton, part of GCr15Φ30-65 continuous casting annealed steel was 6,600 yuan/ton; Xining Steel Φ80-150 forged annealing steel was 7,600 yuan/ton with a few of stock.
