The 2nd Taiwan International Fastener Show to Open on March 13

The 2nd Taiwan International Fastener Show (TIFS) will be held March 13-14, in the island’s southern metropolises of Kaohsiung, and is expected to generate on-spot and post-show business opportunities worth over NT$12 billion.
TIFS was inaugurated in 2010, jointly organized by Taiwan Industrial Fastener Institute and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) as the only business platform on the island for global buyers of Taiwan-made fasteners.
TAITRA staffers indicated that the inaugural show was widely recognized as a big success then, with over 17,000 domestic and foreign visitors and 186 local suppliers participating. The number of foreign buyers was even four times more than expected. Worth mentioning is that an estimate of US$150 million worth of contract orders were signed during the exhibition and later.
The biennially held trade fair will celebrate its grand opening for the second time this year, and has already received intense interest and attention from industry insiders. According to TAITRA’s latest information, the number of exhibitors at the 2nd TIFS will increase to 230, with the number of booths rented totaling 416, 32% more than the first edition. Meanwhile, registrations of foreign buyers to visit the show have also posted a significant growth from two years ago.
Considering the fact that Taiwan exports about NT$120 billion of various fasteners every year, industry insiders pointed out that participation in international trade fairs is one of the best ways to develop their exports. Therefore, the opening of the 2nd TIFS has been regarded by insiders as one of the biggest upcoming events of the industry this year, and will bring additional business opportunities valued at around 10% of the industry’s full-year export value.
In light of the signing of ECFA (Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement) between China, now the world’s largest fastener supplier, and Taiwan, one of the world’s top five fastener manufacturing bases, some insiders also opine that the show can help foreign buyers to build business links with the world’s most populous country to become increasingly influential worldwide.
