The National Economy Experienced Smooth Operation in the First Quarter of 2012

Since the beginning of this year, in face of complex and challenging international environment and new situations and new problems in the domestic economic operation, relevant departments in all districts have been devoted to the implementation of the spirit of the Central Economic Work Conference and all policy decisions made in the Report on the Work of the Government, and adhered to seek improvement in stability, which enabled moderate and rapid growth of the national economy. According to preliminary estimates, GDP in the first quarter was 10.7995 trillion yuan, with an increase of 8.1% year on year calculated at comparable prices. As for different industries, the first industry realized 692.2 billion yuan, with an increase of 3.8% year on year; the secondary industry realized 5.1451 trillion yuan, with an increase of 9.1% year on year; the tertiary industry realized 4.9622 trillion yuan, with an increase of 7.5% year on year. In terms of link relative ratio, the gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the first quarter increased by 1.8%.
