Universal Stainless Hosts Supplier Event for ABMA Members
The North Jackson plant is a state of the art facility that produces specialty steels, including nickel alloy, stainless steel and low alloy steels melted via vacuum induction melting (VIM) followed by either electro-slag re-melting (ESR) or vacuum-arc re-melting (VAR). The facility also has a bar finishing shop with an SMX 650 Radial Forge for the production of both semi-finished and finished long products supplied both the North Jackson premium melt shop and the Universal Stainless’ Bridgeville facility's melt shop and also provides forging conversion services on the radial forge. The hydraulic radial forge is the first one of its kind in North America.
This year, the facility achieved both AS 9100 certification and Nadcap Materials Testing Laboratory (MTL) accreditation.
Based on initial feedback, the attendees found the event educational and many saw potential opportunities for the future.
