Innovation in the ZKL Brno´s technological park
In order to renew the machinery equipment for the production of rolling elements, a project of the purchase of a forging press has been set up with the support of Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Czech Republic.
It is single-stage forging press S210, which can form rolling elements of components - cylinders, cones and spherical rollers. It is possible to produce such rolling elements within a dimensional range from Ø 12 mm to Ø 30 mm. The speed of the forging press is from 85 to 130 pcs./min. The raw material used for the processing is a coiled wire with a weight up to 2 tons.
The forging press was installed in ZKL Brno, a.s. on 7th July 2013. The assembly of the unit took place after the delivery of other components such as the uncoiler, the straightener and the safety guards, which are necessary for a correct start-up. On 18th October 2013, after the completion of the pressing tests on three different rolling elements and the verification of the functionality of all the produced components, the forging press has been passed on into the possession of ZKL Brno.
There is already a set of dies in production for other dimensional types, for which the production tests are planned in order to widen the range of pressed rolling elements.
Thanks to this technology the quality and the prolongation life of the bearings will be enhanced. ZKL will be also able to react in a more flexible and quicker way to customers´ demands.
