Minebea's Automotive Quality Assurance Division Acquired IECQ Independent Testing Laboratory Certification

Automotive Quality Assurance Division of Electronic Device and Component Manufacturing Headquarters at Minebea Co., Ltd. (Minebea) obtained an Independent Testing Laboratory certification based on the IEC Quality Assessment System for Electronic Components (hereafter referred to as "IECQ") (certification obtained as of November 1, 2013). IECQ Independent Testing Laboratory is an organization that has been recognized as the one having administrative and technical capabilities to carry out quality assurance testing and assessment in respect of the product certification of electronic components based on the IECQ system. Applicable requirements of ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 for the testing of electronic components (general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration capability) shall be met by an applying testing laboratory with respect to the management and administration capabilities. Automotive Quality Assurance Division was established in December 2013 at the Electronic Device and Component Manufacturing Headquarters. The Department specializes in the quality assurance testing and inspection of automotive electronic precision parts and components. As such, the maintenance and management of the facilities at the Department have been carried out at a high level of standard that is equal to that of any independent testing laboratories. IECQ is the quality assessment system for electronic parts and components, established in 1980 by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and is administered by the Management Committee of the IECQ (IECQ MC) under the direction and supervision of IEC Conformity Assessment Board (CAB). Currently, 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia are the members of IECQ. The IECQ, an abbreviation of INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHINCAL COMMISSION QUALITY ASSESSMENT SYSTEM FOR ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS, is aimed at providing verification tools for the supply chain management with regard to the tests to be performed on electrical and electronic parts and components, assemblies, and materials related to such parts and components.
