Vestas has secured a 62.7 MW order to supply wind turbines for the Klettwitz II repowering project, located in Brandenburg, Germany. Under the contract with KGE Windpark Schipkau Nord GmbH & Co. KG, Vestas will supply, install and commission 19 V112-3.3 MW turbines. The deal also includes a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution and a 15-year full-scope service agreement. Delivery is planned to begin in the second half of this year, with commissioning expected in the first quarter of 2015. Furthermore, Vestas says there is an option for another eight turbines. Vestas' long-term customer Ventotec has developed the Klettwitz II project for KGE. “We are pleased to continue our successful long-term collaboration with Vestas that started in 1999 with the installation of our V66-wind power plant in Klettwitz,” say Ralf Heinen and Helmer Stecker, managing directors of Ventotec. Klaus Steen Mortensen, president of Vestas Central Europe, adds that the turbine maker is pleased to supply “one of the largest repowering projects in Germany.”
