Vestas has received an order to supply V112-3.0 MW turbines for First Wind's 148 MW Oakfield wind project, located in Maine. The order is a call-off on a December 2013 master supply agreement (MSA) with First Wind for multiple U.S. projects, the potential of which totals 718 MW. Vestas says it has now secured 298 MW under the MSA with the developer. The Oakfield project will also include a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement. Turbine delivery will take place in the second quarter of 2015, with commissioning expected by the fourth quarter of that year. Vestas says it expects its Colorado factories to be involved in the manufacturing for this project. “This order underlines the strong partnership between Vestas and First Wind, one of the leading wind developers in the U.S.,” says Chris Brown, president of Vestas’ sales and service division in the U.S. and Canada. “This is the fourth project Vestas and First Wind are carrying out together and the second in Maine.”
