Starborn Industries Introduces Pro Plug® System for PVC Decking and Trim

Starborn Industries, Inc., a leading fastener manufacturer and distributor, today announced the availability of its Pro Plug® System for PVC decking and trim. Starborn’s Pro Plug® System for Wood has long been the method of choice for plugging hardwood decks and flooring. The new Pro Plug® System for PVC offers builders the same high-quality finish and speed of installation as the wood system, but with several innovative features designed specifically for PVC decking and trim products. These innovations offer several important advantages over existing systems for plugging PVC decks and trim.
The Pro Plug System for PVC features plugs are made of the actual brand-name PVC deck or trim material, so the color and grain match perfectly. The System is being launched with plugs for Azek® and TUFboard® decking, in a full range of colors. Decking and trim material from other manufacturers will be available in the coming months.
Plugging is a proven technique that is widely recognized as the best fastening method for decks and trim. Plugging combines the clean look of hidden fasteners with the strength of “face fastening” (driving screws through the face of the deck and trim boards). The Pro Plug System makes installing plugs in PVC decks and trim significantly faster and easier compared to existing plugging systems.
Additionally, the Pro Plug System for PVC features a specially designed PVC Tool that consistently drives fasteners to the correct depth below the board surface. The PVC Tool features a No Cam-Out Auto-Stop™ mechanism that prevents the screw recess from stripping and a free-spinning stop collar that protects the board surface.
The Pro Plug System for PVC features star drive fasteners available in both stainless steel and epoxy-coated steel, offering builders the ability to choose the right screw for a broad range of applications and materials. Stainless steel screws are designed for use with materials that require the use of stainless fasteners -- as recommended by many decking or trim manufacturers -- and in areas where corrosion is a concern, especially near bodies of water.

The Pro Plug System is sold and packaged in two separate components: (1) PVC Deck/Trim kits containing plugs and fasteners and (2) the PVC Tool. PVC Deck/Trim kits are available in three different pack sizes which correspond to coverage area and lineal feet of material.
