MAN Diesel & Turbo and Fairbanks Morse to Launch Gas Engine Sales Initiative in the US

BELOIT (WI) and AUGSBURG (Germany) – July 7, 2014—Engine producers MAN Diesel & Turbo and Fairbanks Morse, an EnPro Industries company (NYSE: NPO), have finalized a strategic agreement to cooperate in the U.S. power market for gas and dual-fuel engines. The companies agreed on an exclusive cooperation in the power sector for a fixed period of five years. The document was signed by President of Fairbanks Morse, Marvin Riley and Senior Vice President Power Plants, Howard Barnes at MAN Diesel & Turbo during a ceremony in Augsburg, Germany on June 26, 2014.
"The United States is a significant market and offers tremendous growth potential for gas-fired power generation”, said Howard Barnes. “With an installed base of over 1,000 MW, Fairbanks Morse is a wellestablished player in this market. Working together, we can offer efficient solutions for energy facilities of virtually any size. And two premium engine brands joining forces will certainly leave an impression."
"The MAN brand has an excellent reputation in the United States,” said Marvin Riley. “With access to MAN Diesel & Turbo’s portfolio of gas and dual-fuel engines, we can offer units up to nearly 20 MW and expand our range of high quality and flexible power generation solutions. This opens up substantial additional segments in the power generation market for us at a time when distributed energy is clearly on the rise in the U.S."
The two companies already have a long history of cooperation. Fairbanks Morse has been a licensee of MAN marine engines since 1995. "Our companies have been working together successfully for almost two decades," Riley said. "This new chapter comes from a long established tradition of mutual trust," Barnes added. "We will hit the ground running."
Fairbanks Morse produces diesel and dual-fuel engines in the 0.5 - 4.0 megawatt (MW) range and MAN Diesel & Turbo’s portfolio of gas and dual-fuel engines ranges from 2.3 to 17.6 MW.
