NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) has developed the “ULTAGE *1 Thrust Spherical Roller Bearing” that delivers the world's highest standard high-load capacity and high rotational precision with optimizations made to the internal bearing design.
Thrust spherical roller bearings are widely used in applications where high loads are present, such as with mold injection equipment, and are also used in equipment such as screw presses of high-speed spinners and filtration machines. As these devices increase in functionality, bearings need to be designed with a higher load capacity and higher speed rotational precision than before.
The newly developed “ULTAGE Thrust Spherical Roller Bearing” features an optimized bearing internal design to maximize the size and number of rollers that make up the rolling element. These improvements increase the basic dynamic load rating by up to 70% and increase the bearing's rated operating life by up to six-times compared to conventional thrust spherical roller bearings*2 to achieve the world's highest standard high-load capacity. The structure of the retainer has also been changed from the conventional “machined retainer” to a more a simple “caged steel punched retainer” that ensures sufficient space capacity. This allows grease lubrication to be used in addition to conventional oil lubricant, and increases the permitted rotational speed by 20% for the world's highest standard high speed rotational precision. Special heat treatment has also been used to ensure 200°C heat-resistant specifications as standard for dimensional stability and long operating life under high temperature environments.
NTN meets the “high load capacity,” “high speed rotational precision” and “long operating life” requirements of various types of bearings for industrial machinery with the “ULTAGE Thrust Spherical Roller Bearing.” A large size lineup from 130 mm to 320 mm bearing outer diameter will be available, and will be sold globally to strengthen the aftermarket business, including orders in the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul business.
