Waukesha Magnetic Bearings®, a Waukesha Bearings business and an industry leader in custom engineered magnetic bearing systems for large turbomachinery and high-performing rotating equipment, is proud to announce Mike Swann, General Manager, will be delivering a keynote address at the 14th International Symposium on Magnetic Bearings (ISMB14) August 11-14 in Linz, Austria. The keynote address is entitled Industrialisation Trends for Active Magnetic Bearings in the Turbomachinery Industry.

Mike Swann, General Manager of Waukesha Magnetic Bearings and recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award at ISMB13, will be presenting this talk,” said Prof. Wolfgang Amrhein, Chair of ISMB14.
In his keynote address, Swann will focus on the increasing adoption rate of active magnetic bearings in the turbomachinery industry and how leading magnetic bearing suppliers have been exceeding customer expectations. In turbomachinery applications for oil & gas and power generation, this has meant the globalization of sales and service activities as well as key project engineering, product development and manufacturing functions. Swann’s keynote will examine the history of these trends and what one supplier sees as the future of this industry.
In addition to Swann’s keynote address, Waukesha Magnetic Bearings Engineering Manager, Richard Jayawant, will present a paper entitled Numerical and Experimental Results of Auxiliary Bearings Testing on a High Speed Test Rig. Waukesha Magnetic Bearings will be exhibiting in the central exhibition area throughout the four-day event.
