Trelleborg Wins 2014 Kinetic Process Innovation Award

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions announces it has been named a 2014 Kinetic Process Innovation Award winner for the deployment of seals and gaskets for CONMED Corporation's Hall 50™ Powered Instruments Systems that are used for orthopedic and thoracic surgical procedures.
This awards program recognizes companies that demonstrate innovation and deliver significant business benefits.
High Tech Views, a premier technology publication and this year's sponsor of the 18th annual Kinetic Process Innovation Awards, delivered a crystal trophy to Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in honor of its significant contribution in the life sciences and medical device industry by helping to solve and transform a critical design challenge using technological innovation and engineering knowledge.
Luis Tissone, Life Sciences Director for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in the Americas, says: “We are pleased to have won this prestigious award and to be recognized for our design and engineering expertise. In working shoulder-to-shoulder with CONMED, as their seal and gasket suppler, this award marks our continued initiative to innovate and advance technology to deliver such design advantages as reduced friction, longer service life and ease of assembly, to name a few.”
Innovative design engineering
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions helped improve CONMED’s product development cycle, resolved design challenges and supported in the engineering of CONMED’s key differentiator in its handpieces, the TRI-SEAL™ Technology, for the Hall 50™ Powered Instruments System. The gasket design Trelleborg Sealing Solutions engineered for CONMED’s new handpiece system prevents the ingress of steam and liquids during autoclave and sterilizing operations. The award submission also provided an impressive example of how Trelleborg Sealing Solutions delivers a greater total value of ownership (TVO) in its shoulder-to-shoulder engineering and design approach.
"Our panel of judges struggled this year in choosing four award winners out of the hundreds of submissions submitted," said Drew Barrows, Deputy Editor of High Tech Views. "The level of ingenuity and creativity illustrated in the entries proved that organizations are making huge innovative strides in the medical device industry.”
