BMG – Bearing Man Group – has invested in its second Seal Maker SML 500e machine, each of which has the capability to produce over 180 standardised hydraulic and pneumatic seals, o-rings, back up seals and oil seals, to exact specifications.
“The company, which installed its first seal maker machine at BMG’s Johannesburg Sealco facility three years ago, has identified the need in KwaZulu-Natal for the same service,” says Ken Steel, general manager of BMG’s seals division. “As part of BMG’s commitment to assisting maintenance teams to minimise downtime during repair procedures, the company continues to upgrade its in-house seal manufacturing facilities.
“This new machine, which has been installed at BMG’s Durban Sydney Road branch, produces a wide range of machined seals and various engineered plastic products, according to precise requirements, in quantities as small as a single unit, in a few minutes. “Seal Maker machines offer faster turnaround times, double the number of seal profile options and a wider range of materials, than previously available on the older generation seal jet machines.”
The Seal Maker unit’s PC comes with pre-installed with user-friendly SML system software. The machine has an eight-station disc turret for rapid tool change and quick set up time, which enables the operator to manufacture sealing and engineered plastic profiles, with a maximum diameter of 560mm, within minutes. BMG’s extensive range of seals is available in billet lengths of 140mm, in different materials, including Viton, EPDM, Silicon and a range of polyurethanes.
BMG’s specialist seals division, has, for many years secured the exclusive supply, service and distribution agreements with leading global seals manufacturers, which means quality branded components are readily available. The company’s commitment to providing high quality seals is evident in the extreme care taken in brand selection, in terms of standardisation, reliability, flexibility and consistent quality controls. Diverse industries, including mining, construction, manufacturing, earthmoving, hydraulics and pneumatics, hydraulic after-market repairs, materials handling, pulp and paper, agriculture and repair facilities, benefit from BMG’s specialist service. The company, which celebrates 40 years of business this year, now has 10 specialist divisions, with advanced technical skills to honour the company’s commitment to applying technical knowledge and depth of experience to maximise the efficiency and profitability for every customer. BMG will soon be hosting the first BMG Expo – an industrial productivity exhibition. This new event will present a critical focus on productivity and how BMG integrates its vast product range and extensive technical services into tangible operational efficiencies. Demonstrations at the event will interrelate electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, lubrication and fluid control interventions.
BMG will actively reveal how its total process solutions, from onsite breakdown maintenance and installation, to equipment optimisation, can positively influence the performance of a company’s productive assets and investment returns. This industrial productivity exhibition will be held at BMG Park in Johannesburg on 18 and 19 September.
