(L-R) Gina and Mike King are proud to have as staff in their newly-relocated business Derek Harris, Shawn Stroup, Mill Lead James Phillips, Lathe Lead Shane Burns, Billy Richards, and Shop Foreman Patrick Batz.
King Machine & Tool is now located in this brand-new 5,500 sq. ft. facility in the Bourbon Industrial Park.
The first business resident in the Bourbon Industrial Park is now moved in and fully operational.
King Machine & Tool, a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery business specializing in on-demand custom-made parts for a wide variety of businesses, is now using a brand new 5,500 sq. ft. building located just behind the site where the new Bourbon Fire House will be built.
King Machine started in 2006 as a two-man shop located on Acid Mine Road outside of Sullivan, and has since grown into a well-respected manufacturer of close-tolerance machine parts for valve manufacturers, automotive suppliers, and the die-cast industry.
Recently purchased new equipment has increased their production capability to better serve their clients. “We work hard to produce quality parts, and provide good service to our customer base,” said owner Mike King.
Mike and his wife, Gina, own and operate this business. Mike oversees the engineering and machining and Gina is the Office Manager, in charge of the clerical duties involved in running a small business such as this. Together, they make a good team, as evidenced by their beautiful new facility and the well-trained and competent staff of six employees. The Kings have five daughters, but none show any interest in the business, although one of their sons-in-law is an employee.
The Kings started looking for a location several years ago as their production and sales increased. They scouted several locations until deciding on the Bourbon site last year. Mike King cites Bourbon Mayor Leonard Armstrong as a key reason behind their westward move. “He and the City were real aggressive. With the majority of our staff living in this area it made sense economically.”
They selected Tim Wiles Construction as their primary contractor, and began the process of building the structure that will house their business for the foreseeable future. Although the primary entrance road into the Industrial Park is still not completed, the Kings were able to move in and start work last August by using a special access road built for the project.
As happy as Bourbon is to see their business relocate, the Kings are glad to be a part of this growing City. “We want to be part of this community and be a blessing to it” Mike stated.
As to the future of King Machine, both Mike and Gina are optimistic. They made sure to design the new building with expansion of the current facilities in mind, and are currently deciding whether or not to soon add another piece of equipment.
The Kings have always allowed their religion to help guide them in both their business and private lives. “We’ve really been blessed to be able to do this,” Mike said, “We’ve been fortunate to have a very good team, and we give all glory to the Lord that we can be blessed to be in this very competitive business.”
