China high-speed rail gearbox technology made a great breakthrough

CRS Corporation Limited (CSR) announced on December 3 that “CRH380A gearbox drive device”developed by CSR Qishuyan Institute Co., Ltd, a subsidiary company of CSR, was listed among National Key New Product Program in 2014 by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China. The latest data shows that more than 10,000 sets of high-speed rail gear for non-alpine EMU developed by CSR Qishuyan Institute Co., Ltd has been produced, which are widely used in Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Rail Line, Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Rail Line and other key high-speed rail lines. Now, the company is the only high-speed rail gear drive producer and supplier in China. In addition, the company’s alpine gear box unit device also made a major breakthrough. Up till now, the high-speed EMU at 380 kph installed with the alpine gear box has achieved the safe operation of more than 50,000 km in Harbin-Dalian High-speed railway Line. According to reports, high-speed rail gearbox is made up of gear, box, bearing as well as lubrication mechanism. As a power transmission device for high-speed rail, it is responsible for transmitting the motor power to the train, ensuring the train’s high-speed operation. It is one of the core components of the high-speed rail. To cope with the harsh operating environment, CSR Qishuyan Institute Co., Ltd optimized the design of the alpine EMU gearbox and made targeted design optimization and simulation analysis in box, gear material, bearing selection, lubricating seals and other aspects. The product has successively passed bench test, China Railway Corporation’s program evaluation and technical review, and obtained the final approval for alpine line loading assessment.
