This week, bearing steel market was still in weak downstream. down to Friday, the average price of continuous casting non-annealed steel nationwide was 4232 yuan/ton, the average price of die-casting annealed steel is 5808 yuan/ton, and the prevailing quotations for continuous casting non-annealed steel from the second ranking steel plants in South China remains in the range of 3900 to 4100 yuan/ton.
[Raw materials]
1. Ores
On Dec 12th, the price of imported ore went down in the weak trend. The average price of PB fines was 485-490 yuan, down by 5 yuan; PB ores 685-700 yuan, down by 5 yuan; Yandicoogina fines 425-450 yuan, down by 5 yuan; super special fines 405-430 yuan, down by 5 yuan; 63% Brazil coarse particle ores 485-505 yuan, down by 5 yuan.
On Dec 12th, the price of iron powder in Tangshan was weak on a stable basis. 66% iron powder Qian'an was 535 yuan; 60% iron powder in Zunhua was 455 yuan, 66% iron powder was 535 yuan; 66% iron powder in Qianxi was 520 yuan.
2. Coking coal
The price of 1505 coke ran through stronger shocks, and was closed at 1044 yuan, representing 1.26 % increase; the price of 1505 coking coal experienced high shock, and was closed at 775 yuan, representing 1.44 % increase.
3. Steel billet
On 12th, the direct sending price of billet steel was 2405-2410 yuan in Tangshan; most of steel mills did not provide accurate quotes on stocks, no deals made; shipments of finished steel fell yesterday, thus had no support to the market; the price of presintered compact fell by 10 yuan.
On 12th, the price ex-factory of common square billet from major steel mills was 2370 yuan (cash and tax inclusive).
[Review of Major Markets]
This month, the price of bearing steel continued to dip, mainly down by 50 yuan/ton. Up to now, the price of low-end continuous non-annealed casting material is about 3200 yuan/ton; mid-range materials 3400 yuan / ton; high-end materials 4600 yuan/ton; forgings 6400 yuan/ton. The market demand is weak currently, and the market is in a serious homogenization of competition, resulting in continuous falling of market price. However, most of bearing steel mills operate at a loss, which drives them to cut production, thus limiting the magnitude of price declines.
[Forecast for the next week]
No significant improvement is expected to occur in the short term, and the bearing steel market will remain in downturn next week.
