Technical partnership with SKF is key to Ducati’s racing success

Gothenburg, 27 March 2015: SKF has sponsored the Italian motor cycle manufacturer Ducati for over 70 years, helping the company to achieve unparalleled racing success in the World Superbike Championship.
SKF has been a Ducati Corse Official Technical partner for many years and the relationship between the two companies has been strengthened year after year preparing the way for new technical developments in the future.
SKF designs and manufactures a wide range of high performance bearings that are used by Ducati in wheel hubs, gearboxes, camshafts, clutches and suspension assemblies. These are engineered to meet the ever tougher demands of the motorsport sector.
Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse, explains, “At the moment, we are using the latest technology to gain valuable information, especially about the engine. It is vital to be able to determine, for example, the loads at certain times, in particular situations. We believe that SKF’s help is essential to continue this development which will, more and more, integrate mechanical components with electronics. In a small contained system such as a racing bike, the integration between the electronic and mechanical systems is becoming increasingly critical to reduce weight while improving reliability and performance. This is an area where we expect to make real progress with SKF in 2015."

Our latest technology is being used in the new Desmosedici GP15. This is a fantastic bike that factory riders Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone will compete with in the 2015 MotoGP World Championship.
