Weekly Review of Bearing Steel Market in China (Mar 21st to 27th, 2015)

This week, the domestic bearing steel market was locally stable. It had been rumoured that Hebei Steel shut down the blast furnaces due to the impact of "Winter Olympics" , which stimulated the rise in common steel price. So the price of bearing steel is predicted to rise later. Up to Friday, the average price of continuous casting non-annealed steel nationwide was 4070 yuan/ton, the average price of die-casting annealed steel is 5525 yuan/ton, and the prevailing quotations for continuous casting non-annealed steel from the second ranking steel plants in South China remains in the range of 3900 to 4100 yuan/ton.
[Raw Materials Markets]
1. Ores
On Mar 27th, the powdered iron price in Tangshan fell down. 66% iron powder Qian'an was 480 yuan; 66% iron powder in Zunhua was 480 yuan, 60% iron powder was 400 yuan; 66% iron powder in Qianxi was 480 yuan.
On Mar 27th, the prices of some iron ore types changed. The average price of PB fines was 410-425 yuan; PB ores 520-530 yuan; Yandicoogina fines 355-360 yuan; super special fines 360-375 yuan; 63% Brazil coarse particle ores 415-435 yuan.
2. Steel billet
On Mar 27th, the direct sending price of billet steel was 2095-2100 yuan in Tangshan; spot price was 2080-2090 yuan (with big volume); the price of finished steel was weak; the price of preformed billets was stable.
On Mar 27th, the ex-factory price of common square billet from major steel mills was 2080 yuan (cash and tax inclusive).
[Major Markets]
[East China Region] This week, the bearing steel price in East China market remained stable in the weak trend. Market gradually started, and the trading volume gradually went up. Up to this weekend, the quotations in Hangzhou market are as follows: Beiman Steel GCr15Φ30-70 non-annealed steel was 3,800 yuan/ton; Nanjing Steel GCr15Φ20-0 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 3,700 yuan/ton; Xingcheng Steel GCr15Φ50 non-annealed steel was 4,500 yuan/ton, less stock. This week, the bearing steel price in Wuxi market was basically stable, and the turnover was ordinary. Up to this weekend, the quotations in Wuxi market are as follows: Xingcheng Steel GCr15Φ30-75 hot-rolled non-annealed steel was 4,500 yuan/ton; Xinyegang Steel GCr15Φ30-50 continuous casting annealed steel was 3,900 yuan/ton; Beiman Steel GCr15Φ40-75 heat-treated annealed steel was 4,600 yuan/ton; Wuxi Huarun Steel GCr15Φ50-80 had no accurate quote, less stock; Nanjing Steel GCr15Φ50 hot-rolled non-annealed steel was around 3,750 yuan/ton.
[North China Region]This week, Shenyang market remained weak, thinly traded. As most steel mills started operation late after the Festival, there were almost no market purchases. Up to this weekend, Benxi Steel Φ90-120 continuous casting steel was 4,050 yuan/ton; Benxi Steel GCr15Φ160-180 die-casting annealed steel was 5,400 yuan/ton. This week, the bearing steel price in Harbin market was flat, and the deal was ordinary. Benxi Steel GCr15Φ20-75 heat-treated annealed steel was 4,200 yuan/ton, out of stock; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ50 heat-treated annealed steel was out of stock; Dongbei Special Steel GCr15Φ40-75 continuous casting non-annealed steel was 3,900 yuan/ton.
[Forecast for the next week]
Based on the current market situation, continous decline in price pushed traders' desire for rise, coupled with the price increase stimulated by recent rumors, the bearing steel market is expected to embrace the upcoming high tide.
