Plastic materials specialist igus® will be showcasing a range of its new tribopolymer materials for the plastics design and moulding industry at this year’s Plastics Design & Moulding (PDM) event, taking place in Telford on 16th – 17th June. Visitors to the igus® stand will be able to see tribo-tape; made of a tribologically optimised material that exhibits low friction and excellent wear resistance, it can be applied onto any working surface to improve sliding properties and features maintenance free characteristics. tribo-tape is available in two materials - food-grade iglidur® A160, which is coloured blue for easy identification, and iglidur® V400, which is extremely wear-resistant, even at temperatures up to 200°C. Another new introduction being showcased on the igus® stand is a tribo-filament for 3D printers. The material has been developed specifically for engineers who wish to create structurally robust prototypes or small batch components for test in real-world applications or solutions. The filament, which is compatible with conventional ABS 3D printers that use the FDM method, is available in two materials: the wear resistant iglidur® I170-PF and the flexible iglidur® I180-PF. Also on display will be igus® high-performance plastic e-chains® that are resistant to corrosion and impact and yet are light in weight. Available in a wide selection of designs and sizes, e-chains® are made of tribopolymers that offer high UV, temperature and precipitation stability, over extremely long working lives. They are also available in materials optimised for specific use, such as in ESD/ATEX environments, detectable and FDA materials for food, packaging, and medical applications. In addition to the above, igus will also be exhibiting a comprehensive range of plain bearings, ball bearings, cable management systems and continuous flex cables, as well as linear systems that can be used to help designers to optimise production processes and reduce costs.
