Combine bearing starts fire in township near Breckenridge

Sunnyside Township, MN (WDAY TV) - Faulty farm equipment was to blame for a wheat field fire at the Sunnyside Township Monday afternoon, the Wilkin County Sheriff's Office said. Around 3:30 PM, the Wilkin County Sheriff's Office and Breckenridge Fire department responded to the fire at the intersection of 250th Avenue and County Road 14. The sheriff's office says most of the fire was contained to the harvested part of the field, but some wheat was burned. A tractor and chisel plow were at the scene and contained part of the fire before help arrived. The fire was caused by a bad bearing on a combine.
