SKF: Oil & Gas Solutions on Show at Offshore Europe 2015

SKF, the knowledge engineering company, will be showcasing a range of innovations that are improving reliability and efficiency for Oil & Gas OEMs and operators at Offshore Europe 2015.
Among the solutions on display is the top drive exhibit, where SKF will showcase a range of its latest top drive equipment, which is designed to improve the operational reliability of critical top drive systems. This includes high performance bearings, seals, lubrication and condition monitoring products.
Costly failures of top drive equipment can occur due to excessive loads and vibration, lubricant contamination, or electrical discharges and hydraulic blockages. SKF top drive solutions address these challenges and reduce the likelihood of failure. SKF tapered roller thrust bearings, for example, deliver high load carrying capacity, the ability to accommodate shock loads and high wear resistance even under an ineffective lubricant condition – increasing bearing service life as a result.
Furthermore, the company will show the SKF Thruster Monitoring, an integrated and flexible condition-based maintenance (CBM) solution for propulsion and positioning thrusters in the marine and offshore sectors. The benefits of using the SKF Thruster Monitoring solution include extended class survey intervals, reduced need for dry-docking, for lower risk of failures and improved ship availability. As a result, end-users can ensure greater thruster reliability and improved asset availability.
Also on show will be the solution for jack-up gearboxes, launched earlier this year. Ensuring better reliability and safety of jack-up gearboxes is key to productivity in oil and gas. This is why SKF developed its latest package of bearing, seal and lubrication products for jack-up gearboxes. This product solution includes the most advanced SKF Explorer CARB and Spherical Roller bearings, which have been proven in many of the most challenging applications, and high performance seals to prevent the ingress of contaminants. Benefits include greater load carrying capacity and improved gear to gear contact, which help to extend gear life while reducing the risk of failure.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see the SKF Multilog On-line System IMx-M; a powerful, cost effective solution for monitoring the condition of offshore machinery. Alongside SKF @ptitude Monitoring Suite software, the SKF Multilog IMx-M provides a complete system for , early fault detection, diagnosis and initiation of machinery shutdown. Further to this, the SKF Multilog IMx-M system can provide automated advice that enables the correction of existing or impending conditions that may impact on machine reliability, performance and availability.
The booth will feature an example of SKF's magnetic bearings solution. The company has worked alongside the world's leading manufacturers and operators of onshore, offshore and subsea turbomachinery to develop its E300V2 control cabinet.
The E300V2 is a modular system for improved reliability and incorporates a number of important new features. These include remote monitoring and diagnostics, redundancy of key components, backup UPS and a high-resolution data acquisition system.
Last year SKF celebrated the commission of its 1,000th S2M active magnetic bearing in the oil and gas sector. This technology will also be available for view at Offshore Europe 2015. This year's Offshore Europe takes place on 8-11 September 2015 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Visitors to the event will find SKF at Stand 1H41.
