Future projects for the Railway sector in China are discussed

During a tour of Europe, 50 members of the management delegation from the newly formed major Chinese corporation China Railway Rolling Stock (CRRC) also made a visit to Schaeffler in Schweinfurt. The company is the world's largest manufacturer of rail vehicles. During the tour, the management delegation is meeting strategically important partners to discuss joint future projects. The customers were welcomed by Dr. Stefan Spindler, CEO Industrial Schaeffler AG, and Dr. Michael Holzapfel, Director of Railway Sector Management at Schaeffler, who provided an overview of Schaeffler's global activities for the railway industry. "We are delighted to welcome CRRC, one of the key customers for the Chinese railway sector, to Schweinfurt. The Chinese railway market is the world's fastest growing and therefore of central importance for Schaeffler", said Dr. Stefan Spindler.
In the field of railway engineering, Schaeffler has been successfully active on the Chinese market for decades. As early as the 1980s, the first axlebox bearings from Schaeffler were used in railway applications in China. Today, Schaeffler is an important development partner for high-speed, local transport and freight applications in China with local development, production, and service expertise. Over the last few years, Schaeffler has, among other things, expanded its development capacities for axlebox bearings in the Railway sector in Schweinfurt and in Anting, China. Here speeds of up to 600 km/h and axle loads for freight transportation up to 40 tons per axle can be tested. In order to increase safety during day-to-day operation and to minimize wear and maintenance outlay, Schaeffler also has its own accredited test laboratories in Germany and China for assessing the performance of axlebox bearings for railway applications and ensuring their optimization.
The Railway sector enables mobility for tomorrow
As part of the strategy concept "Mobility for tomorrow", the Railway sector plays a key role for Schaeffler in the field of urban and interurban mobility. The guests from China were impressed by Schaeffler's extensive expertise in finding solutions and by the wide range of components and systems that Schaeffler provides for local, long-distance, and high-speed trains, as well as for freight wagons and locomotives. Schaeffler's product portfolio comprises axlebox bearings including housings and mechatronic products as well as bearings and components for traction motors and gearboxes, for railcar connectors and tilting technology, as well as for doors and numerous other applications. With its INA and FAG brands, Schaeffler has over 100 years of experience in railway engineering.
