Vestas Receives 200 MW Order For New 3.3 MW Wind Turbine

Vestas has announced it will ship 200 MW of its new 3.3 MW turbine to a project in Oklahoma, US. The project represents the first order for Vestas’ V126-3.3 MW wind turbine in the US, and will go a long way to strengthening the company’s 3 MW platform in the country as a whole. The announcement was made on Wednesday, with Vestas Wind Systems A/S receiving a firm and unconditional order for a wind power project in Oklahoma. As the company points out, Oklahoma has historically been 2 MW territory, but Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the US and Canada, was keen to remind developers of “the versatility of our product portfolio” and that Vestas can draw from both its “2 MW and 3 MW platforms to select exactly the right turbine to meet our customers’ needs.” The order was placed by an undisclosed customer for an undisclosed project, but Vestas has announced it will be supplying and commissioning the wind turbines, as well as providing a three-year Active Output Management service agreement. Vestas was recently named as the leading wind turbine OEM for intake during the first half of 2015, according to figures in FTI Consulting’s Global Wind Market Update — H2 2015 Briefing. The company also recently released its third quarter earnings report, with increased revenue, earnings, and free cash flow enough to allow Vestas to upgrade its outlook for the fiscal year 2015.
