BorgWarner will present the iClutchTM intelligent clutch system and its innovative compact disconnect system for electrified drivetrains in two technical presentations held at the 14th International Car Training Institute (CTI) Symposium, “Automotive Transmissions, HEV and EV Drives,” in Berlin, Germany, from December 7 to 10. In addition, BorgWarner will showcase its broad portfolio of state-of-the-art transmission and all-wheel drive technologies in Booth F08 at the accompanying Transmission Expo. With 1,350 delegates from 28 nations with over a third from outside the country in 2014, the CTI Symposium is considered the most important international forum for the latest developments in automotive transmissions.
“We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the CTI Symposium in 2015. It is an excellent platform for showcasing our latest technologies and strengthening our position as a leading supplier of advanced transmission solutions,” said Robin Kendrick, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Transmission Systems. “Highly efficient transmission technologies are a key enabler for automakers around the world and allow them to meet challenging fuel and CO2 targets. BorgWarner’s innovative solutions also contribute to enhanced performance and a more comfortable driving experience.”
On December 8 at 3:30 p.m., Mark Buchanan, Senior Manager, Advanced Engineering Drivetrain Group, BorgWarner, introduces BorgWarner’s iClutch, an electro-hydraulic system that actively controls the clutch in a manual transmission (MT). Including an add-on, fully integrated hydraulic control module and an optional wet friction clutch, the intelligent clutch system enables fuel savings as well as autonomy for MT-equipped vehicles.
The second presentation on December 9 at 2:15 p.m. by Alexander Moser, Supervisor Advanced Products, BorgWarner Transmission Systems, addresses BorgWarner’s compact disconnect system for electrified drivetrains using a one-way clutch. The technology allows disconnection of the engine without additional clutch actuation and facilitates a simple mild hybrid layout.
