December 30 (SeeNews) - Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said on Wednesday it has secured a 117-MW wind turbine order in Finland from local energy firm EPV Tuulivoima Oy. Vestas will supply and install 34 pieces of its recently-launched V136-3.45 MW turbines at the site of the Metsala project, Finland’s largest onshore wind development. This is the first order for the particular turbine model, the company noted. “We have chosen the V136-3.45 MW as it will deliver increased energy output and thus provides us an optimal choice within the Metsala project site constraints,” said Frans Liski, EPV Tuulivoima’s managing director. The contract includes a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement. Vestas expects to start deliveries of the turbines in 2017. Before making the latest purchase, EPV Tuulivoima had ordered a total of 33 V126-3.3 MW machines from Vestas.
