Its multi-patented INVELOX technology turns traditional wind power systems upside down by first using a funnel to collect wind, channeling that wind to increase its speed, and then delivering it efficiently to multiple turbines safely covered on the ground. (PRNewsFoto/SheerWind) SheerWind, a Minnesota U.S. based wind-power innovator, has signed a licensing agreement with Reikon Beheer, a diverse investment company that will market and deploy SheerWind’s INVELOX wind-power generating systems in the Netherlands. The agreement is SheerWind’s second in Europe and fifth globally allowing its technology to further expand worldwide. Reikon Beheer is introducing SheerWind’s technology under the name NedPower SWH to customers in the Netherlands and expects its first pilot project to be under construction in the first quarter of 2016. SheerWind’s technology is a cost-effective, high-performance alternative to conventional wind technology. By capturing, concentrating, accelerating, and harvesting wind power in a funnel system called INVELOX (for INcreased VELocity). Its multi-patented INVELOX technology turns traditional wind power systems upside down by first using a funnel to collect wind, channeling that wind to increase its speed, and then delivering it efficiently to multiple turbines safely covered on the ground. This means wind energy can be produced from record low wind speeds of 2 m/s in locations close to the end user—even on rooftops in urban areas—eliminating complex power and grid systems. Shrinking the size of the turbine blades, eliminating complex systems, and harvesting at ground level all equate to cost savings, environmental safety, and profitable output. INVELOX designed to blend with community to produce power were needed While the Senate in the Netherlands recently stalled progress on a 3.5 GW offshore wind plan, NedPower SWH is working to bring wind power generation to city rooftops, allowing wind power production close to the end user eliminating the vast expense involved in grid system connections for offshore power generation. “The Netherlands has a long history with wind technology, but is behind schedule to reach the goal of 14% renewable energy by 2020. I believe that INVELOX is the solution to make this impossible goal possible,” said Huibert Uittenbogaard, CEO of NedPower SWH. “As we have with our other companies, we look forward to providing a needed solution for our country while providing new opportunities for our communities.”
