Voith’s OnCare.Health monitoring solutions include an easy-to-use system for industrial fan and pump drivetrains. It employs state-of-the-art sensor technology and connected components to increase the system’s availability. This allows for easy and reliable monitoring of operating data as well as use in advanced IIoT applications such as predictive maintenance.

“OnCare.Health is a monitoring and data diagnostic system for Vorecon considering all significant signals from the drivetrain, such as speed, power, shaft and housing vibration, bearing and oil temperatures and oil pressure,” said Dr. Martin Tilscher, product manager OnCare.Health Vorecon.

Voith’s OnCare.Health family of monitoring systems has long been established as a sustainable way to increase the productivity of plants and equipment. This iteration was developed to boost efficiency in industry applications.

“The signals from the machine are received through the drivetrain control system and operators are getting informed about the machine’s condition and upcoming maintenance requirements. This enables operators to plan service activities timely in order to avoid unplanned downtime and avoidable production losses,” Tilscher said.

Voith’s data-assisted systems are designed with specific customer and industry requirements in mind. OnCare.Health offers operators of pumps and fan drivetrains an easy and reliable way to facilitate equipment handling along the drivetrain while laying the foundation for additional functionalities afforded by the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

“An additional benefit is the integrated efficiency calculator, which displays the current machine’s efficiency and the historic values. This helps operators to minimize their energy consumption and to reduce CO2 emissions,” Tilscher added.

A robust smart display is used for advanced data visualization. Operators gather valuable insights into the machine status and maintenance requirements. By basing decisions on real-time data, they can proactively initiate maintenance operations and prevent errors and downtimes before they occur. This results in increased uptime and reduced repair and maintenance costs, thus lowering the drivetrain’s total cost of ownership (TCO).

Given its smart and simple design, OnCare.Health is easily integrated into existing bus-controlled drivetrains. Since it only requires a single signal line, minimum wiring is needed from the master module to the control room and within.

“The information is displayed on a graphical user interface (GUI) and is easily accessible via a common web browser which means training is simplified, according to Tilscher. “In the past, maintenance was done more or less on a schedule, but in the future, we will see more customers take condition monitoring results into consideration.”
