Contributing Chinese Wisdom to International Standardization of Rolling Bearings - ZYS Leading a Group to Participate in the 31st ISO/TC4 Plenary Session
From May 22 to 26, the 31st plenary session of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Rolling Bearings (ISO/TC4) and related sub technical committees (SC) and working group meetings (WG, AG) were successfully held in Gothenburg, Sweden. Nearly 50 representatives from China, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, and India attended the conference on-site or online.
ZYS, as the responsible unit of the Secretariat of the National Rolling Bearing Standardization Technical Committee and the domestic technical counterpart of ISO/TC4, organized 15 experts from the bearing industry to participate in this meeting. Among them, 6 representatives attended the on-site meeting in Gothenburg, and 9 representatives attended the meeting online.
This session involves 6 sub technical committees, 7 working groups, and the TC4 plenary session, totaling 14 meetings. Among them, ZYS has carefully prepared and successfully held its first sub technical committee meeting after assuming the responsibility of ISO/TC4/SC6 "Outer Spherical Bearing" and SC11 "Linear Motion Rolling Support" secretaries.
The TC4/SC6 meeting was held on the morning of May 22nd local time in Sweden, with 16 experts from China, Japan, the UK, Austria, Germany and other countries participating. The meeting focused on the feasibility of drafting an international standard for spherical bearings with seats, as well as the scope of work for TC4/SC6, and ultimately resulted in three resolutions. According to the resolution, ZYS will submit an international standard proposal for outer spherical bearings with seats by October 2023, further enhancing the activity of TC4/SC6.
The TC4/SC11 meeting was held on the morning of May 24th local time in Sweden, with 14 experts from China, Japan, the UK, Austria, Germany and other countries participating. The meeting focused on the promotion of the international standard project ISO/NP 19457 "Boundary Dimensions and Tolerances for Linear Roller Supports of Rolling Bearings" led by ZYS, the review of four international standards, and the scope of work for TC4/SC11. Finally, four resolutions were formed. This meeting clarified that the scope of work for TC4/SC11 should cover the vocabulary standards of linear motion rolling bearings, and conducted research on TC4/SC11 under development and proposed review and revision projects, which will gradually improve the TC4/SC11 standard system.
The Chinese delegation also advanced several tasks in this ISO/TC4 conference:
Successfully obtained the right to host the ISO/TC4 Plenary Session in 2025. China will host the ISO/TC4 Plenary Session for the third time since 1986 and 2013, and ZYS will host the ISO/TC4 Conference in 2025;
Two international standards ISO 2982-1:2013 "Rolling bearing accessories - Part 1: Dimensions of locking sleeves and withdrawal sleeves" and ISO 2982-2:2013 "Rolling bearing accessories - Part 2: Dimensions of locking nuts and locking devices" directly managed by TC4 have been transferred to SC6 management, increasing the number of SC6 centralized standards;
The FDIS draft of the international standard project ISO 24652 "Rod end joint bearings for hydraulic cylinders with joint bearings" led by ZYS has been reviewed by the ISO Central Secretariat and will soon initiate a formal FDIS vote;
China has proposed multiple international standard formulation and revision intentions at the SC6, SC11, and SC7 "Joint Bearings" conferences, laying a solid foundation for subsequent work.
As the responsible unit of the Secretariat of the National Rolling Bearing Standardization Committee, as well as the ISO/TC4 domestic technical counterpart, as well as the TC4/SC6 and SC11 Secretariat, ZYS will continue to make every effort to do a good job in the standardization of rolling bearings and contribute more Chinese wisdom to the international standardization of rolling bearings.
