Fairlane Products (Fraser, Michigan) a North American manufacturer and supplier of clamps, fixturing accessories, machine tool components and rollers & bumpers, now offers a complete package of low-profile carbide steel inserts called TG GripSerts and accessories to handle a variety of workholding applications. Depending on the type of TG GripSerts gripper inserts, these low-profile inserts are made to grip either aluminum (TG-ALU), steel (TG-STD) or hardened steel (TG-HRC). GripSerts offer many advantages over traditional clamping systems. With only 3.5mm of clamp surface needed to securely hold a workpiece, GripSerts are ideal for 5-axis machining operations. Their special triangular shape with a 5° tapering and specialized teeth geometry combine to provide exceptional clamping stability with no need for pre-machining or dovetailing workpieces. The combination of TG GripSerts gripper inserts and jaws is suitable for clamping castings, machined parts, and parallel workpieces. The accessories include the retrofit jaw set, with or without parallels, that allows the users to use TG GripSerts grippers on Kurt 6" vises or TriMax Series vises. The self-locking design of the parallels allows for quick and easy installation on the TG GripSerts jaws with no additional tools. The protective covers prevent dirt and debris from building up inside the TG GripSerts insert slots on jaws when the grippers are not installed. The cutting tool is used to prepare jaws to receive the TG GripSerts. The cutting tool end is 3-fluted and made from solid carbide. Also available, the wrench accessory is used to install or remove all TG GripSerts workholding grippers and protective covers from the jaw sets. With 1 to 3 inserts per jaw the TG-ALU and TG-STD provide a range of 2,200 lb to 4,400 lb of clamping forces. The TG-HRC has a range of 6,600 lb to 8,800 lb For 4-7 grippers per jaw, the range of clamping force for the TG-ALU is 4,400 lb to 8,800 lb; the TG-STD range from 6,600 lb to 11,000 lb. and the TG-HRC 8,800 lb to 11,000 lb. With only 3.5mm of clamp surface needed to securely hold the workpiece, TG GripSerts carbide gripper inserts are designed to be ultra-low profile with lengths of 10.81mm and widths of 3.18mm.
