China Luoyang Hosts Specialized Conference on Collaborative Development of Bearing Industry Chain

On May 4, 2025, the Luoyang municipal government convened a special meeting on the development of the high-end bearing industry chain, with Mayor Zhang Yujie presiding and soliciting opinions from local key enterprises and research institutions. The meeting focused on common challenges facing the bearing industry, facilitating in-depth discussions on promoting industrial chain collaboration, technological breakthroughs, and market expansion.

Attendees included over ten leading enterprises and R&D institutions such as LYC, ZYS, and LYXQL. Representatives reported on product development, process improvement, and market applications based on their respective progress, while raising specific concerns and constructive suggestions regarding technological bottlenecks, talent shortages, and financial pressures encountered in their development.

As a major industrial hub in China, Luoyang boasts a robust foundation in the bearing sector, featuring a complete supporting system of "one factory, one research institute, one university, and one academy," giving it a unique advantage nationwide. In recent years, the rise of emerging industries such as new energy vehicles, smart manufacturing, and robotics has driven growing demand for high-performance bearings, presenting new opportunities for local enterprises.

Mayor Zhang Yujie emphasized that, amid fierce market competition and technological suppression from foreign products, local bearing companies must proactively seize opportunities brought by booming industries, accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies, enhance product performance, and strengthen domestic substitution capabilities. He stressed the need to deepen the integration of scientific resources and manufacturing capabilities, leveraging intelligent, green, and high-end transformations to elevate overall production standards and boost industrial competitiveness.

He also proposed establishing a collaborative development mechanism led by industry leaders, promoting regional industrial cooperation platforms, and integrating resources from universities, research institutes, and upstream/downstream enterprises. Various cooperation models, such as mergers, equity participation, and brand alliances, should be explored to achieve resource sharing, complementary advantages, and coordinated growth.

Meanwhile, the government will continue refining policy support systems to address critical pain points hindering enterprise development, improve service guarantees, ensure targeted implementation of business-friendly policies, and strengthen factor supply to enhance corporate satisfaction. Additionally, plans are underway to organize international high-end bearing exhibitions, helping local brands expand into global markets.

Following the meeting, Mayor Zhang Yujie visited LYC’s intelligent production base for new energy equipment bearings to inspect project progress and technological applications, urging accelerated construction to swiftly achieve operational capacity and bolster industrial growth.

This meeting not only clarified the next steps for Luoyang’s high-end bearing industry chain but also injected new momentum into building a nationally influential, self-sufficient high-end equipment manufacturing base.
