China 6th Proposed International Standard in Rolling Bearing Field Successfully Approved
Recently, the international standard proposal ISO/NP 25994 "Spherical plain bearings — Self-lubricating bearings of PTFE fabric liner type," led by China, was officially registered and approved by ISO/TC 4/SC 7 "Spherical plain bearings."
ISO/NP 25994 is led by Fujian Longxi Bearing (Group) Co., Ltd., with participation from Luoyang Bearing Research Institute Co., Ltd., Shanghai Bearing Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Taizhou Kejin Bearing Co., Ltd., and SKF (China) Co., Ltd. This proposal marks the sixth international standard proposal initiated and approved by China in the field of rolling bearings, and the third proposal approved within ISO/TC 4/SC 7 "Spherical plain bearings." Over the past decade, all new work items in ISO/TC 4/SC 7 have originated from China, making China the only member country consistently proposing new standard drafts and actively contributing Chinese expertise and innovation to maintain the subcommittee's vitality.
ISO/NP 25994 is based on China's industry standard JB/T "Spherical Plain Bearings — Aerospace Self-Lubricating Radial Spherical Plain Bearings." The proposal underwent preliminary discussions at the ISO/TC 4/SC 7 annual meeting in May 2025. Following the drafting of the proposal and related documents, as well as communication with relevant countries and the SC7 Secretariat (Germany), a three-month voting period for the new work item proposal was officially initiated on August 19, 2025. It received support from countries such as the United States, Austria, and Russia, and was officially approved on November 18.
PTFE fabric liner self-lubricating spherical plain bearings offer advantages such as maintenance-free operation, self-lubrication, low friction, high load capacity, excellent wear resistance, and long service life. They are widely used in high-end fields such as aerospace, advanced equipment, precision instruments, and humanoid robots. ISO/NP 25994 specifies key technical indicators for PTFE fabric liner self-lubricating bearings, including product structure, dimensions, technical requirements, and testing methods. As a major producer of PTFE fabric liner self-lubricating spherical plain bearings, China's successful proposal of this international standard signifies a breakthrough from "technology following" to "standard leadership" in the high-end technology field of self-lubricating spherical plain bearings. It also reflects China's growing influence and voice in this product domain, which will help enhance the industrial competitiveness of such products in international trade.
