As the core component of the transmission system, the performance of automobile gearbox bearings directly affects the power transmission efficiency, gear shifting smoothness and NVH performance of the whole vehicle.
1. Needle roller bearings
Due to their compact structure and small radial size, they occupy an important position in the gear shaft support of the gearbox. This type of bearing consists of precision needle rollers and cages. The radial section height is only 1/4 to 1/3 of that of traditional roller bearings, but it can withstand considerable radial loads and is particularly suitable for supporting components with limited radial installation space. Needle roller bearings are widely used for support between gears and shafts. The typical application scenario is the gear support on the gearbox intermediate shaft. This design significantly reduces the axial space occupation, conforms to the development trend of miniaturization and lightweight of the gearbox, and simplifies the installation structure.
2. Tapered roller bearings
Mainly installed between the differential housing and the half shaft to transmit the driving force and withstand the impact force from the road. The uniqueness of this type of bearing is that it can withstand radial and axial combined loads at the same time, and its load-bearing capacity is significantly higher than other bearings of the same size, and high manufacturing precision is required. Tapered roller bearings are usually used in pairs. They can obtain ideal rigidity through preload adjustment and are particularly suitable for bearing the overturning moment generated by gear transmission.
3. Deep groove ball bearings
The structure is relatively simple and widely used. They are mainly used to support the input/output shaft of the gearbox under light or medium load conditions. Compared with other types of bearings, deep groove ball bearings have outstanding advantages such as low friction coefficient, high limit speed and good sealing performance. When the radial clearance is appropriately enlarged, the deep groove ball bearing will show characteristics similar to angular contact ball bearings and have a certain bidirectional axial load capacity. In gearbox design, deep groove ball bearings are often used to support the front end of the input shaft. This position has high speed and relatively small load, which just plays its high-speed performance advantage.
4. Cylindrical roller bearings
It is a separable bearing, easy to install and disassemble, and is usually used to bear pure radial loads. Compared with deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings of the same size have greater radial load capacity and stiffness, and are suitable for gearbox parts with high stiffness requirements. In double intermediate shaft heavy-duty gearboxes, cylindrical roller bearings are often used for main shaft support. Their double-row design can effectively share the huge radial force under heavy load conditions. Full complement cylindrical roller bearings are used in extremely heavy load situations to significantly increase the load capacity.
