For the 16th year in a row, SKF has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index

Gothenburg, Sweden, 18 September 2015: For the 16thyear running, SKF has been listed as one of the world’s most sustainable companies by the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI).

Supply chain management, ensuring a transparent tax strategy and its overall environmental management programme were three areas in which the Group ranked highly.
Rob Jenkinson, Director of Sustainability, says, “We have been working to integrate sustainability into the business for a long time now, and it is good to receive this recognition from the DJSI once again.

“Our products and solutions help enable the transformation into a more energy and carbon efficient world. Our energy use has reduced in absolute terms by 16% since 2006, a period of overall production growth for SKF. By focusing on energy efficiency, we have been able to reduce carbon emissions as well as save a significant amount of money.”

One of the year’s most significant developments with regards to the Group’s climate strategy, BeyondZero, was the award of a global ISO 50001 certification, announced in February. 38 manufacturing facilities, representing some 90% of the Group’s total direct energy use, have implemented SKF’s energy management system, contributing to a reduction in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index was launched in 1999 and is the longest-running global sustainability benchmark. In addition, SKF is also a member of the FTSE4Good Index and Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe.
